Ahmed Faraz is the greatest Urdu poet and intellectual of our times. In fact he is a national asset for Pakistan. Since his illness early July 08, he has been fighting for his life in a Chicago hospital. The government of Pakistan has not offered any assistance with his medical expenses in Chicago or with arrangements to fly him back to Islamabad for ongoing treatment.
Please sign this petition to let the Pakistan Government know that its silence and inaction is not appreciated. Having fought for democracy all his life, Faraz is more important than any political leadership of the day and should be looked after by the government.
According to poet Ifti Naseem (Chicago) Pakistan Government is yet to offer any assistance.
Nothing less is acceptable!!!
